Weird timing? Morgan Wallen’s ex-girlfriend had a shotgun wedding right before he was arrested in Nashville. The “Last Night” singer’s ex-fianceé KT Smith became engaged to her longtime boyfriend and married five days after he asked her to marry her.
Wallen and Smith dated from 2017 to 2019 and welcomed their son Indie in July 2020 after they broke up. “Little Wilder, I’m a changed man. Since you came into the world Friday, I see mine differently now,” he captioned an Instagram post announcing his birth. He told People about their co-parenting situation: “Obviously we still saw each other some.” He told the publication that he’s thankful to share a son “with someone I care about. We’re doing our best to figure it out, just trying to do the best we can with the situation. I mean, many people have been in this situation before — having a kid with someone you’re not with — but knowing that doesn’t make it any easier.”
Smith and her new partner Luke Scornavacco went public with their relationship in May 2023. They announced their engagement on March 29, 2024. “why save the good things for later ❤️🔥,” she captioned a post of Scornavacco asking her the big question on one knee. They also took several pictures with Indie. A couple days later, the two made it official and eloped on April 3, 2024.
Days after his ex’s wedding, Morgan Wallen was arrested in the early morning of April 8 in Nashville. The “Last Night” singer was at the opening weekend of Eric Church’s Chief’s Bar and threw a chair off the sixth-floor rooftop bar.
A source told OK! Magazine that the marriage might have affected his actions—saying that it “crushed him.” “Whatever happened at that bar had to be reality hitting him in the face over losing the love of his life,” the source said.
“Morgan has never gotten over her even though he couldn’t stay faithful to her. And now another man is going to be raising his son,” the source continued. “Of course he knew they were engaged and eventually going to get married — but eloping just days after they got engaged?”
Why was Morgan Wallen arrested?
According to WKRN, Morgan Wallen was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment for the two officers who were in the vicinity and for the danger to the public. The arrest report also stated that Wallen was also charged with disorderly conduct. His bail was posted to a $15,250 bond to secure his release around 3:30 a.m.
Witnesses reportedly told officers that they were standing next to Wallen on the sixth floor and saw him “pick up the chair, throw it over him, laughing afterward.” The two officers who were standing below on Broadway spoke with bar staff and witnesses and reviewed security footage to confirm Wallen was involved.
Smith has not responded to Wallen’s arrest, but she posted a video of their son Indie drawing on eggs hours on her Instagram story after the news broke.
