By now you may or may not have run across the viral Tiktok of a bridge washing her wedding makeup off after twenty minutes that was done by a makeup artist she hired. If not, here’s what happened.
In the viral clip, the bride is filmed over a bathroom sink washing her makeup off as one of her bridesmaids holds her hair back and comforts her. According to reports the bride hated the look and didn’t feel herself. I can relate to this on some level when going to counters and asking to be shade matched and just having them choose the warmest shade of foundation that made me look like I was using way too much bronzer. Or that time I went to Benefit to have my brows filled and well, did they overfill them to the max!
It’s ok to NOT like how a makeup artist did your makeup. It’s ok to wash it all off and start again. It’s not the ideal situation on your wedding day considering everyone wants everything to be perfect on that special day but if you hate it why should you wear it all day not to mention take pictures in it? The bride expressed how much she hated it, she washed it off, and redid it herself in a way she felt prettiest and that’s ok. According to reports she said she asked for a natural glow but it came out very powdery. She also, said she had the makeup artist did a trial run and expressed her concerns during that time.
I think she has every right in the world to look perfect on her day and every right in the world to wash off makeup she hated however, I think she made two very important mistakes.
In my opinion, if she saw a problem during that time she probably should have looked elsewhere. That was probably her first mistake. Girl, if it looks bad the first time around I’d say look somewhere else because you can’t take that second chance on your big day. I’m about giving people a second, third, even fourth chance but I wouldn’t risk a second chance on my big day. If she hated it the first time she probably should have said, “I’m not sure this is a good fit for me but I’ll let you know!” and try someone else.
Now the biggest mistake of all she made which is a bit unforgivable is the fact she recorded this for Tiktok and in the clip she says, “I can’t wait to record this for Tiktok”. Listen, not everything is meant to be shared with the world and and even if you hated the makeup you don’t have to damage the reputation of the person who did it. She didn’t actually say the makeup artists names but of course, everyone is a super sleuth on the Internet and was trying to find out who it was that did the makeup! The makeup artist has since come forward to explain her side of the story considering the story was getting so much attention. She did the right thing in my opinion as sooner or later she would likely have been discovered and it would have been worst off if she didn’t come forward as everyone would have made her into some sort of villain.
I think the moral of the story is that everyone deserves perfection on their wedding day but also, let’s not be bridezillas if we don’t get perfection and take up our cameras to make Tiktoks about what is going wrong. That’s with friends and family are for. They’re there for to support you during your big day, hold your hand and comfort you when things go wrong, and to help you make them right. Tiktok, however is not the way to go when things go wrong.
