It’s one of Spain’s longest kidnapping cases. Anabel Segura‘s story is making the rounds again after the premiere of Netflix’s newest true crime series 900 Days Without Annabel.
Anabel Segura was a student at ICADE University when she was kidnapped by Emilio Muñoz Guadix and Candido Ortiz Aon, while she was jogging in La Moraleja, Madrid. The kidnappers called Anabel’s parents and her lawyers frequently asking for ransom and demanding up to 150 million pesetas ($1,126,795.50 today). The kidnappers had killed Anabel shortly after kidnapping her and buried her body in a factory in Toledo. Her parents were pivotal in the search for their daughter and never gave up hope of finding her alive.

Emilio and Candido were arrested after a person of the public recognized his voice after Spanish television broadcasted the ransom calls. Her family held a funeral for their daughter who was lost for 900 days. The kidnappers were sentenced to 43 years in prison each for their roles in the kidnapping and murder by the Spanish Supreme Court.
Where are Anabel Segura’s parents now?
Both of Anabel Segura’s parents passed away. Sigred Flores died on March 16, 2016, and José Segura passed away on December 26, 2019, according to SportsKeeda. José Segura Nájera was a businessman in the petrochemical business, and her mother Sigrid Flored was German.
The couple made the decision to keep out of the limelight when her body was discovered. “Anabel’s parents are not dominated by hate but they want the full weight of the law and justice against the kidnappers and killers of Anabel,” their lawyer said at the time
