Is love truly blind? It’s the age-old question and the premise of Netflix’s experimental dating show Love Is Blind. Season 7’s featured couple Garrett and Taylor seem to think so, but early on in their time in The Pods, the question of what ethnicity Taylor is might have caused a little hiccup in their growing love.
Garrett and Taylor hit it off right away when they shared their love of basketball and science. BTW, he’s a physicist and she’s a clean energy scientist and they have tattoos related to their field—how cute! When Garrett asked her what her parents were like, she gushed about her dad, while she offered a fun fact about how she, her family, and her friends called her mom by her first name, Taylor decided not to reveal her mother’s name because it would reveal her ethnicity. This caused some tension with Garrett’s trust with Taylor, but he also pointed the fact that he’s only dated white girls so maybe this is new and different to him.

“I wasn’t going to share my ethnicity, because it was an opportunity to have someone not know what I look like at all,” she says on the show. “I’m just really interested to know if my emotional and intellectual thought processes are enough. Everything else is extra.”
What is Taylor from Love Is Blind‘s ethnicity?
Taylor is half-Chinese on her mom’s side and white on her dad’s side. Her dad’s last name is Krause, which has German and Jewish (Ashkenazic) origins. As for what her mom’s first name is, it’s Fong.
And Taylor wasn’t wrong when she and her friends all call her by her first name. “If you don’t bother an entire restaurant to celebrate a birthday you didn’t do it properly. Happy 30 x 2 to most people’s favorite person, Fong ✨,” she wrote on her Instagram (her username is @chinesediscobaby, which y’know is further proof that she is Chinese) carousel of her family celebrating her birthday. One of her friends commented, “Petition to make Fong’s birthday a national holiday 🖊️ 📄”
Are Taylor & Garrett still together after Love Is Blind?
Taylor and Garrett were one of the first couples to get engaged on Love Is Blind season 7. The two become extremely vulnerable when Garrett sent her favorite flowers and her “It’s like every molecule of me just wants to come through this wall and be with you,” he says. “Our bodies are telling us that we want to be together. We just had to make sure our heads didn’t get in the way.” Even after the face reveal, the two leaped into each other’s arms. Their trip to Cabo seemed to be going well until the previews for the upcoming episodes revealed that Garrett’s ex texted him back, which might bring on more tension.
As of writing this, Garrett still follows Taylor, but Taylor does not follow him back on Instagram. Is there trouble in paradise? We’ll have to find out sooner or later when the new episodes come out.
