Emma Hernan is finally setting the record straight on those Selling Sunset affair rumors. The reality star and empanada entrepreneur didn’t hold back as she addressed the allegations that surfaced during Season 8 of the Netflix series, where her co-star Nicole Young suggested that she was romantically involved with a married man.
In a recent interview with Vulture, Emma didn’t mince words when it came to her costar Nicole’s claims. “Nicole is a sick individual. I’m going to be super candid. There’s zero truth to that rumor,” Emma said. The 32-year-old real estate agent went on to explain that the situation in question dated back to 2021 when she showed properties to a potential client who later expressed interest in investing in her empanada company.
“When I say nothing happened, I never touched this man, never kissed this man, never held hands with this man,” she insisted. “I was completely blindsided by this whole situation, and I mean backstabbed by everyone involved, everyone that knew anything about this because it’s completely slander, it’s defamation [and] it’s all of the things.”
The drama unfolded during Season 8 of Selling Sunset when Nicole, 38, made some serious allegations. In a scene with other cast members, Nicole cryptically hinted at the alleged affair, saying, “I wish I didn’t know. It involves Emma and that’s all I wanna say. It’s morally upsetting to all of us. It’s just information that could really affect families, marriages and Emma’s reputation.”
Nicole didn’t stop there. In a confessional interview, she doubled down on her claims, saying, “I did hear from a reliable source that Emma has likely had relations with a married man.” She even went as far as to call Emma “hypocritical” for supporting Chelsea amid her divorce, given the rumors surrounding Emma herself.
According to Emma, the man in question was going through a divorce and had reached out to her about looking at properties. She acknowledged that there might have been a crush on his part but maintained that “there was nothing, not one single thing that transpired.”
The situation has created quite a stir among the Selling Sunset cast. Emma revealed that her costars Mary Fitzgerald Bonnet and the Oppenheim brothers, Jason and Brett, have been supportive throughout the ordeal. “We feel so bad. We have your back 100 percent. Whatever you need us to do. We know nothing like this happened,” Emma quoted them as saying.
Mary Fitzgerald, in a separate interview with Us Weekly, corroborated Emma’s side of the story. “Emma explained it to me but it was nothing like what Nicole said,” Mary said. She added, “I just feel really bad that she’s going to be put into that light. In my opinion, even if something like that happened, I don’t agree with it. But you don’t do that to the world—you don’t blast someone out like that.”
This isn’t the first time Nicole has stirred up controversy on the show. Since joining the cast in Season 6 as a replacement for former villain Christine Quinn, she’s quickly earned a reputation as the show’s new antagonist. Emma didn’t hold back in her assessment of Nicole’s motives, suggesting that these accusations were merely a ploy for airtime.
“The only headlines and the only airtime that Nicole gets is by attacking other women,” Emma stated. “She came for Chrishell [Stause] the first season, and that’s the only reason that she got cast. And then, now I guess it was my turn.”
Emma’s close friends and costars, Chrishell Stause and Chelsea Lazkani, have also publicly come to her defense, slamming Nicole on social media for spreading what they believe to be false information. Chrishell didn’t hold back, writing on Instagram, “Someone needs to take my phone [because] 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. Are we really still giving air time to LIARS that just want air time??”
Whether this will be the end of the affair allegations remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure—the drama on Selling Sunset and its spinoffs is always far from over.
