I picked up three shades and I thought I’d review and swatch them up for you today! Let’s take a look!

NYX Buttermelt Blush was inspired by the recently released Buttermelt Bronzer. I wish I was a bronzer girl as I suspect I’d love the bronzer as much as I do the blush. Buttermelt Blush contains mango, almond, and shea butter, which are vegan and cruelty-free formulas. They launched these in matte and shimmer glow finishes. Of course, I went and got all the shimmery ones and I love them! I’m basing my review of those but I suspect the mattes are just as beautifully formulated.

These come in a hard-shell plastic compact that’s 0.17 oz in size and has no mirror. Don’t quote me, but I thought I read these were supposed to smell tropical. To me, they smell lightly of cinnamon, but you have to put your nose up close even to get any fragrance.

When I think of buttery blush, I think of a more velvety blush, which is a bit more dense. These aren’t powdery but incredibly smooth, super silky, and applied like butter. They apply like a dream, but users beware: they are pigmented as hell, so a little goes a long way. They blend beautifully, leaving behind color and the most lovely lit-from-within radiance on my cheeks. They also wear for hours and hours without fading and don’t lose their beautiful glow through that wear. I had no issues with the blush adhering to my drier areas, and it looked soft, gorgeous, and smooth on my cheeks. This formula’s beauty is that it’s brand new and hasn’t been done before. NYX does tend to do releases that resemble each other but this is truly a formula I haven’t seen from them in the past.

NYX Sooner or Butta Buttermelt Blush

NYX Feeling Butta Buttermelt Blush

NYX U Know Butta Buttermelt Blush

The two stand-out shades that I purchased were Feeling Butta, and U Know Butta. When I opened Feeling Butta I was like, “Oh no way!”. It was a lot darker than it looked in photos, and I was convinced I couldn’t pull it off. But oh my god, it’s so unique! I will struggle to describe it, but it’s a mauve-y brown rose that applies on my cheeks as a beautiful bronzy rose. I realize that color description sucks, but it’s just so pretty. If you see it in the store and find yourself shying away from it, I urge you to swatch it or try it on your cheeks if you can because it’s a sleeper shade and very pretty. U Know Butta, of course, had to come home with it as I’m a coral lover, and this vibrant, fun, glowy coral is a must for Summer wearing!

They released a NYX Buttermelt Blush Brush which was $12 that I got on the brand’s website but it disappeared. They do still have the Buttermelt Bronzer Brush which is the same brush but isn’t pink like mine. This is a lovely brush with soft yet firm bristles and a sturdy handle. There is no fault with the brush design but it isn’t the brush you’ll want to use with Buttermelt Blushes. It’s a bit too thick of a brush and it picks up WAY too much blush and this being a very pigmented blush that can be dangerous for application. You want a flopper brush or something with fiber bristles. Lovely brush but I wouldn’t recommend it for use with these blushes!

NYX Buttermelt Blush brings pigment to the table in a smooth, silky formula that lasts all day! This is a gorgeous blush and a must-have at this price!

Where to buy

Ulta

NYX Buttermelt Blush is a new buttery smooth blush available in 14 shade selections that are $10 each and 0.17 oz in size and available in matte and shimmer finishes! This arrived in a hard plastic compact that doesn’t have a mirror. I’ve read a few reviews describing them as powdery but I thought they were quite dense easy to pick up color with a brush. They have a soft, silky texture that applies like butter on cheeks leaving behind smooth, radiant color. User beware they are very, very pigmented so a little goes a very long way. I got 12 plus hours of wear from these shades without any fading issues and they didn’t lose their radiance through that wear.

Pros

  • Super pigmented
  • Long-wearing.
  • Smooth, silky color.
  • Applies and blends like a dream!

Cons

  • Wish the compact had a mirror!
