Unleashia Babe Skin Baby Blue Cushion Review & Swatches

I’ve been trying to recreate the finish, feel, and formula of the Sephora Wonderful Cushion Foundation since it was discontinued back in 2016. Man, I loved that cushion! I never did find one that worked as great but I’ve recently become obsessed with Unleashia. Well, I was already a fan of their eyeshadow palettes but I never tried their base products, and that recently changed when I decided to give the Unleashia Babe Skin Baby Blue Cushion a try.

Don’t get me wrong here the Unleashia Babe Skin Baby Blue Cushion isn’t a dupe of the Sephora Cushion but it gives me the same beautiful, brightening finish that it did. I love this formula. I can’t recommend it enough. Let’s take a look at a deeper review of this gorgeous cushion foundation.

Unleashia Babe Skin Baby Blue Cushion will set you back around $16 to $20 depending on where you purchase it. It’s available at both amazon.com and yesstyle.com. It comes in a powder blue compact that’s 0.52 oz in size. This is a press-to-release compact that ensures the foundation remains fresh. The compact is the standard chunky compact that many cushions in Korea favor. It has a full-size mirror inside and a sponge for application. Most times to release foundation (or even moisturizers) in this type of compact (or jar in the case of moisturizers) you would press down on it. That isn’t the case with this. It has a little button at the side you press to release the foundation into the small holes located in the top of the compact. Typically one press is the only one I need for my face as I like a more natural finish but you can easily build for more coverage. I would say the formula is semi-medium which isn’t a great description. But it’s sort of that in-between coverage of being sheer and almost medium. It isn’t super pigmented but pigmented enough to ease dullness, brighten, and conceal minor redness. It won’t cover major problems but will provide good coverage to even out your complexion.

Keep in mind there are three formulas available in this compact. A green compact that is meant for oily, combo, and normal skin types. This blue one is meant for oily and normal skin types. And pink which is meant for dry, combo, and oily skin. I chose the blue version which isn’t meant for my dry skin but the pink is marketed as glowy and I don’t really like glowy foundations. I had no problems with this formula. It feels lightly hydrating and has a thinner yet creamier consistency. You can gently pat it into the skin with the included sponge or dab it on with your fingers. It blends smoothly and evenly and adheres to the skin perfectly no matter how many layers are applied. That is one of the reasons this is so beautiful: you can apply multiple layers without it looking cakey. It does give the look and feel of baby skin. I love how bright my complexion looks using this not to mention it eases dullness and lackluster-looking skin with a simple single layer. It wears very well too even in warmer weather at around six hours before fading a bit. But during that time it never cakes up or looks dry.

Unfortunately, it’s from Korea and that means the shade range is minimal. I use the shade 25N Good Night which is a smidge too light for me but it seems to work well for me and doesn’t leave me with a white cast or a pasty finish. The shade is a light-medium neutral which typically works great for me but it seems a bit lighter than normal neutral shades. I do wish they had a larger shade range but I do understand that it isn’t marketed for Western skin tones.

Aside from the shade range being a problem, this is a wonderful foundation. Beautiful brightening coverage that’s not only natural but skin-like and has a smooth, even finish that doesn’t cake up or look dry on the skin! If you happen to fit into the shade range I HIGHLY recommend checking this out for yourself.

Although, it has cushion in the name it isn’t a traditional cushion by any means and is more a lightweight foundation. The joy of this formula is you can apply multiple layers without ever having to worry it will be too heavy or too cakey. It looks smooth and natural no matter how much you apply. The light, cream consistency smooths onto the skin flawlessly and blends to perfection. It brightens, eases dullness, and hides minor redness while evening out the complexion.
