Why Is Nia Sioux Not in Dance Moms Reunion? Where Is She? What Happened?

Opening up. If you’re up watching the long-awaited reunion of the cult classic reality show, you might be wondering why Nia Sioux isn’t in the Dance Moms reunion. Many of her former co-stars are planning to return to talk about their time on the hit show, but the death drop dancer extraordinaire revealed the real reason why she didn’t end up appearing.

The Dance Moms reunion features Abby Lee Dance Company alums JoJo Siwa, Brooke Hyland, Paige Hyland, Kalani Hilliker, Kendall Vertes, and Chloé Lukasiak. The documentary will feature interviews with the cast and a look back at memorable moments. Fellow alums Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler will not be making an appearance in the documentary either.

Why is Nia Sioux not in the Dance Moms reunion?

In a TikTok, Nia Sioux said that she just simply didn’t want to be involved in the Dance Moms reunion. “Personally, I wasn’t going to say anything ’cause I just didn’t want to start drama — not that this would even start drama; it really shouldn’t. And also, I didn’t want to make it because I don’t want it to seem like I’m searching for attention because I really don’t care,” she said. “I really don’t need the attention.”

She revealed that she was asked about the reunion “a lot. “Hate to break it to you guys, but the reason is quite simple. I just really didn’t want to do it.”

She continued, “Yeah, it’s pretty plain and simple. I just didn’t want to do it. Some people think it was because I had sorority stuff. Nope, I didn’t. Some people think it’s because I’m in school. I am in school, but it wouldn’t have been an issue. I just didn’t want to do it, and that’s a good enough answer and that’s a good enough reason.”

She did admit that she was “grateful” to be in the show and mentioned the feeling in “almost any” interview she’s done. “It’s where I came from. It’s how I got my start. It’s the reason why I have such an amazing life now. Truly, I love my life. I have a fabulous life and I’m truly enjoying it.”

“I love the girls, and I’m really happy for them, and I’m really happy that they get to share how they felt or their experiences, but that’s just something I decided that I didn’t want to do, and that’s okay,” Sioux concluded. “Also, I never said that I wouldn’t do a reunion show in the future or talk about my experiences in the future, but right now, at this moment, was not the right time for me to do that.”

Sioux made her directorial debut for Seize the Awkward’s campaign for Mental Health Awareness month. She captioned a video on Instagram, “Such an honor making my directorial debut working with @seizetheawkward on their “Capture the Convo” campaign. I am beyond grateful to share these much needed conversations centered around mental health. Shoutout to my phenomenal female crew and my amazing friends for making this a success. I can’t wait for you all to watch these episodes.”

Dance Moms: The Reunion airs on Lifetime on May 1 at 8 p.m. and is available to stream the next day.
